General Announcements:

Good luck to Synergy as the show choir begins its competition season this weekend!  Synergy will compete in the Best of the Midwest competition at Center Grove High School tomorrow at 4 PM.  Synergy would love to have as many Golden Bear fans in the audience as possible to cheer on the choir as it defends its Grand Champion title.  Thanks for your support!!

Do you want a chance to win $25? Next Tuesday through Friday, buy a Blow Pop at lunch to be entered into a drawing for a gift card of your choice. The more you buy the better your chances!

Did you forget about the Matchomatics?  We still have yours waiting for you until the end of the day on Monday.  After that no more Matchomatics.  Just $2.00 a piece, buy one, buy many.  Surprise a friend with his or hers.   If you miss lunch time sales, stop by the Media Center for yours.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month! Teen DV Month (sometimes called TDVAM) is a national effort to raise awareness about abuse in teen and 20-something relationships and promote programs that prevent it.  Unhealthy or abusive relationships are when one person tries to have power and control over the other.  This can mean that they physically hurt their partner-maybe by shoving, grabbing or breaking their stuff.  Or they might try to emotionally hurt their partner-by threating to spread rumors or by calling them names. If you need help in your relationship, advocates at loveisrespect are ready 24/7 at loveisrespect.org

There will be a Blood Drive at SHS on Monday, February 27th from 3:00-7:00 PM.  The blood mobile will be located in the parking lot for anyone who would like to give.   Please see Mrs. Burton in the clinic if you are interested in giving.

Juniors: How does a week-long all-inclusive paid trip to Washington, D.C. sound? If you like that idea, RushShelby Energy wants to give you a chance to make it happen.  Applications for the Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. are available in the Counseling Office and online at www.rse.coop and must be submitted to RushShelby Energy by February 17th.

It is that time of year when GBTV starts collecting senior pictures for the annual senior slide show that is played at the senior luncheon and graduation.  Every senior can submit a senior picture, a baby picture, and a picture of your choice (school appropriate of course) to hstvstudio@shelbycs.org.  Pictures are due by Thursday, March 23rd.  Pictures will not be accepted after spring break.  So seniors, for once in your life don’t procrastinate and get those pictures turned in!

The SHS Counseling Department will be offering a grief group for our students.  This grief group is a support group designed for students who have experienced loss.  This free, 6-week program will be conducted at the high school and will be facilitated by a SHS school counselor.  It is tentatively scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 23rd. Pick up a permission slip in the Counseling Department today.
