Following months of practice and a presentation at Business

Professionals of America regional competition last weekend,
Gabbi Fox was anxious to hear the results. Although waiting
for her name to be called was “nerve-wracking,” she was
“thrilled to know that I would advance to the state
competition.”
Sixteen years after stepping into the SHS BPA Advisor role,
Business and Information Technology teacher Amy Fox is still
making adjustments, especially in the pandemic. She and the
students were thrilled to participate in an in-person
competition again.
“The most memorable experience from the regional
competition was realizing how much I have left to learn,”
Connor Zobel, who placed in the Computer Security category,
said. “Computers and technology are constantly changing,
and once you think you have everything down, you should
probably think again.”
State finals-bound or not, the process itself is valuable.
Niven Herrington was required to be in BPA as part of joining
the Golden Bear TV crew. “I wasn’t very excited about it at
first, but then I realized how much it challenges me and how
it allows me to find my strengths and places where I could
improve.” Herrington thanked Mrs. Fox, his “very supportive”
teacher and advisor, for encouraging his entrepreneurial
spirit.
Anesa Jakupi, who placed in two events, also appreciates the
opportunity to master new skills and build confidence.
“However, my favorite memory from the Regionals is the
friendships that were born,” she said.
